Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood is currently recruiting for a General Manager to lead operations within our joint venture business in Basra, Iraq.Job Objective: Managing the daily operations of the JV business under supervision of the Managing Committee and in accordance with the business plan and budget. Supporting successful delivery of projects whilst taking an active role in the development, training and mentoring of Iraqi top talent into future leaders within the business.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Execution
- Provide leadership, oversight and support during growth and development of our Iraq business
- Support in HSSES oversight of Operations. Support regular F2F engagements with team, various clients
- Meet, engage and build further trusting relationship with Government agencies, BOC, SGC, Basra Governor, BCRO, MOO, MOI etc
- Undertake Iraq based BD activities, understand growth and broadening opportunities
- Responsible for HSSE leadership, ensures a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established, and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed across all projects
- Drives good practices, including corporate initiatives, across Contracts, Projects and programs
- Resolves complex issues which are escalated by project team
Leadership
- Guides and directs the contract and project teams, which includes external specialists and staff from multiple offices and sites.
- Is an advocate and role model for ethical behaviour and compliance with applicable laws
- Teaches and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters
- Mentor and develop top talent
Skills / QualificationsQualifications:
- University degree (bachelors or masters) in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Arabic Speaking
- Typically requires more than 15 years of broad and extensive pertinent experience, including minimum 10 years project or general management experience.
- Expert in stakeholder management with extensive experience in managing challenging stakeholders and able to coach and advise others in this area
- Sound practice and experience of commercial and technical risk
- Able to drive cash flow management as well as projection/forecast of cost at completion
