We are looking for an experienced leader to provide mentorship and oversight to our program managers and program development team, as well as provide guidance in field office vision and leadership. A day in the life of a Deputy Country Director:

In the role of Deputy Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
Assist the Country Director to create, articulate and disseminate a clear vision and strategy for Samaritan’s Purse Iraq.
Provide strategy for programmatic and operational aspects of the Samaritan’s Purse Iraq country office
Provide day to day support and oversight to the Senior Programs Manager, Senior Operations Manager and Grants Manager to ensure successful project implementation
Through management of those direct reports, ensure that operational and programmatic processes are in place so all that grants, awards and internally funded programs are implemented according to the Samaritan’s Purse field operating guidelines and policies as well as grantors policies, with timeliness and efficiency
Ensure operational and support processes are in compliance with government law and regulations, are culturally appropriate and properly support programmatic activities

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Knowledge of project planning and implementation.
Extensive field humanitarian experience in a management role.
Experienced in cross-cultural team leadership.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to coordinate activities with local involvement and establish working relationships with other NGOs.
12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Arabic strongly preferred
Accompaniment: Family Accompaniment
Travel Expectations: Travel to field sites as necessary; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
